Getting started
What is DoneYet?
DoneYet brings shared tasks, group itineraries, expenses, balances, chat, and activity into one place for households, trips, events, routines, friends, and teams. Use the mobile apps or sign in on the web with the same account.
Who can use DoneYet?
Anyone who meets the age and account requirements can create a DoneYet account and personal tasks. Shared groups are private and invite-only: there is no public directory for browsing or joining random groups.
How do I create or join a group?
Create a group from Groups, then open its member list to add people or share a link, QR code, or email invitation. A share link can add the signed-in recipient directly; an email invitation must be claimed with the invited email. Invite links can expire, so ask for a fresh one if needed.
How do I sign in?
DoneYet does not use passwords. On the website, tap Sign in and use Google or email verification. On iPhone, use Sign in with Apple, Google, or email. On Android, use Google or email. The same account syncs across web and mobile.
Can I use DoneYet on both the web and my phone?
Yes. Sign in with the same account on secure.doneyet.co, iPhone, or Android. Shared changes sync automatically as connectivity allows.
Tasks and groups
What is My Tasks?
My Tasks brings together work assigned to you across groups and your personal tasks. Use filters, search, quick complete, or Calendar view; DY Assist is also available from My Tasks.
What are personal tasks?
Personal tasks are just for you. DoneYet also keeps direct tasks involving selected people in a protected system destination called Non-group tasks. You only see direct tasks you created or that are assigned to you. A task can usually move between destinations later, but linked expenses can prevent a move.
Can I add skills or interests to my profile?
Yes. Optional profile fields during onboarding or under Account help groups see who is comfortable with which kinds of tasks. Profile photos are moderated before others see them.
How do recurring tasks and reminders work?
Set a repeat schedule when creating or editing a task. Optional push notifications can be toggled from Account → Settings → Push notifications on supported devices.
How does task distribution work?
Auto fair distribution balances unclaimed work with built-in rules (included on Free). DoneYet Pro adds AI-powered distribution and custom template suggestions when you turn those options on.
What is the difference between Admins and Helpers?
Group owners and admins manage membership and group settings. Helpers can create and work on tasks with fewer group-management permissions.
How do I leave a group or transfer ownership?
From the group settings (or the leave option in the group menu if you are a Helper): leave if you are not the only owner, or transfer ownership if you are. Owners can remove members when needed.
How do group itineraries work?
Build an itinerary from dated group tasks or start from scratch, then arrange activities by day. When locations are available, DoneYet can show approximate travel time, leave-by details, and timing warnings. In edit mode, eligible days can be route-optimized on request; you can still reorder activities manually.
Are travel times and route optimization exact?
No. They are planning estimates based on available location and routing data. Traffic, weather, venue access, airport procedures, and incomplete addresses can change the result. When DoneYet is not confident in a location or route, it may show no estimate rather than guess.
Calendar
Can I see Google Calendar events in DoneYet?
Eligible users whose DoneYet account uses Google sign-in can connect up to five Google accounts and select calendars to display in My Tasks → Calendar view. Access is read-only: DoneYet does not create, edit, or delete Google Calendar events.
Where do Google events appear?
They appear only in Calendar view, beside DoneYet tasks. They do not appear in task lists, create DoneYet reminders, or notify assignees. You can open an event in Google Calendar or choose Add to DoneYet to create a normal task from selected event details.
How do I manage or disconnect Google Calendar?
Open Account → Settings → Integrations → Google Calendar. You can change selected calendars, add another Google account, or disconnect an account. Connecting Calendar is separate from signing in to DoneYet and requires Google’s read-only Calendar permission.
Expenses and rewards
How do expenses and balances work?
Add a shared cost from a group’s Expenses tab or from the main Balances area. Choose one group or selected people, say who paid, adjust the split, and optionally attach receipts. Balances show who owes whom; record a settlement after money changes hands.
Can I split an expense without creating a group?
Yes. Choose people instead of a group when adding an expense. DoneYet keeps that expense, its participants, balances, and settlements in the system Non-group tasks destination. Participants see expenses they created or are included in.
Does marking a settlement move money?
No. DoneYet records expenses, balances, and settlement status; it is not a bank or escrow service. Payment options such as Venmo, PayPal, or Apple Cash open supported third-party services. Confirm the payment separately before recording it as settled.
How do task rewards and payouts work?
Task creators can offer a reward when assigning work. Available payout choices vary by device and configuration and may include links to Venmo or PayPal, Apple Cash on supported iPhones, or an eligible gift-card option. Manage payout details under Account → Payout and verify payment outside DoneYet where applicable.
DY Assist and Insights
What is DY Assist?
Open DY Assist from My Tasks to ask about your DoneYet tasks and groups in plain language. It uses relevant information already in DoneYet rather than searching the open web. Free includes a limited lifetime allowance; Pro expands usage.
What is the Insights tab?
Insights summarizes task activity across your groups. Everyone can view the overview and available filters; Pro unlocks interactive chart drill-down and opening matching task lists from a chart.
DoneYet Pro and billing
What’s included in Free vs Pro?
Free covers groups, full task workflows, fair auto distribution, comments, activity, expenses and balances, and limited DY Assist. Pro adds AI distribution, template suggestions, expanded DY Assist, receipt scanning for expenses, and interactive Insights. See plans on our homepage or Account → Subscription for current pricing in your region.
How does billing work?
Subscriptions are purchased through the App Store or Google Play (1-, 3-, or 6-month plans where offered). The web can show your current plan, but purchases, changes, cancellation, and refund requests are handled through the applicable mobile app and store.
Does deleting my account cancel my subscription?
No. Cancel active subscriptions in your Apple or Google account. See our delete account page for steps.
Safety, privacy and account
How do I block or report someone?
In a group, open the member list, select a member, then Block user or Report user. Manage blocked users under Account → Settings → Blocked users. See Community Safety for standards and how we respond.
What data does DoneYet collect?
Account and profile details; content such as groups, tasks, itineraries, chat, expenses, and attachments; optional contacts, location, or Google Calendar data when you enable those features; and technical information needed to operate the service. We do not sell personal information. Details are in the Privacy Policy.
Does DoneYet track my location?
No continuous location tracking is required. DoneYet processes a typed task address or your current location only when you choose a location feature and grant permission. That information may be sent to mapping providers to find a place, calculate an itinerary estimate, or optimize a route.
Does DoneYet read my contacts?
Only if you allow it. When you choose to find friends from your contacts, phone numbers from your address book are matched against verified DoneYet users so we can show who is already here. We do not keep contacts that do not match a DoneYet user, and we never sell or share your contacts. You can turn off contact discoverability in Account → Settings (“Find me on DoneYet”) and revoke the permission in your device settings.
Do I have to give my phone number?
No. Verifying a phone number is optional. If you do, we confirm it with a one-time SMS code so people you know can find you and to help reduce abuse. You can use DoneYet without a verified phone number.
How do I delete my account?
Account → Settings → Danger zone → Delete account permanently, then type DELETE as prompted to confirm. Cannot access the app? Email [email protected].
Who can I contact for help?
Open Account → Help & Support → Contact us, or email [email protected]. For legal or privacy topics, use the contacts on our policy pages.
